International Women’s Day 2025: Accelerating Action for a Better Future

Every year, International Women’s Day gives us a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made, the challenges we still face, and the actions we must take to create a more inclusive and equitable world. This year’s theme, "Accelerate Action," deeply resonates with me—not just as a woman in STEM, but as someone passionate about leveraging technology and innovation for social good.

In my journey through software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital forensics, I’ve come to realize that action is the key to transformation. It is not enough to dream of change—we must actively create it. Whether through mentorship, innovation, or breaking down barriers for the next generation, accelerating action is about using our skills, voices, and platforms to drive meaningful impact.

Breaking Barriers in STEM and Innovation

As a woman in STEM, I have experienced firsthand the challenges that come with being in a traditionally male-dominated field. But rather than allowing these challenges to hold me back, I have chosen to push forward, learning, growing, and uplifting others along the way. My work in UI/UX design, software development, and cybersecurity has allowed me to contribute to projects that make a tangible difference—whether it's creating crime-mapping tools with She's Safe, advancing sustainability through TakaPoints, or helping bridge the gap between communities and technology.

One of my biggest passions is empowering more women to join the tech space. Through my role as a Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) Lead, I have worked to create opportunities for students to learn, innovate, and collaborate on technology projects. Organizing events like DevFest Student Edition has reinforced my belief that when women are given the tools and opportunities to thrive, they drive incredible change.

From Ideas to Impact: Technology for Social Good

Innovation should always serve a greater purpose, and I have dedicated my work to ensuring that technology is used to solve real-world problems. My startup, She’s Safe, is a perfect example of this. By developing an offline crime mapping tool that allows users to report incidents via USSD, we are working towards a future where communities can take control of their safety and well-being. Similarly, my involvement in TakaPoints has reinforced the importance of technology in environmental sustainability, proving that tech can be a catalyst for both safety and sustainability.

In every initiative I take on, my goal remains the same: to accelerate action for a better, more inclusive future. Whether it's through advocating for digital literacy, supporting fellow women in tech, or mentoring the next generation of STEM leaders, I believe in using my skills and platform to create lasting change.

The Call to Accelerate Action

As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, I encourage every woman—especially those in STEM—to embrace the spirit of action. Let us not wait for change to happen but rather be the force that drives it. Support and uplift each other, take bold steps towards innovation, and use your knowledge to make a difference.

This day is not just about celebrating our achievements; it’s about recommitting ourselves to the work that still needs to be done. Together, we can accelerate action towards a future where women are not just part of the conversation but leading it.

To all the trailblazers, innovators, and dreamers—Happy International Women’s Day! Let’s keep pushing forward, breaking barriers, and transforming our world for the better. 🚀✨
